The Blue Ridge Parkway has partially reopened in North Carolina, with a significant 11-mile section near Asheville now accessible to the public. This stretch runs from milepost 382.5 at US 70 near the Folk Art Center to milepost 393.6 at NC Route 191 near the NC Arboretum, including the French Broad Overlook. The reopening follows extensive cleanup efforts after Hurricane Helene, which left the entire parkway closed due to fallen trees and debris. Approximately 350,000 cubic feet of storm debris have been cleared in this area, allowing the Asheville Visitor Center to resume operations and the Folk Art Center to reopen soon. Despite the progress, visitors are advised to exercise caution as hazards like landslides and leaning trees remain. The National Park Service continues to work on reopening additional sections and advises checking for updates on park conditions.
