Vodafone Idea Launches 5G Services in Bengaluru, Chandigarh, Patna

Vodafone Idea (Vi) has commercially launched its 5G services in Bengaluru, following earlier rollouts in Mumbai, Delhi-NCR, Patna, and Chandigarh, marking a significant expansion in its nationwide 5G network. The launch, supported by a partnership with Samsung, utilizes advanced, energy-efficient infrastructure and AI-powered Self-Organizing Networks (SON) to optimize performance and promote sustainability. Vi offers unlimited 5G data starting at ₹299, targeting Bengaluru's tech-savvy population with enhanced digital experiences such as ultra-fast streaming, gaming, and cloud access. Alongside the 5G rollout, Vi has substantially upgraded its 4G network in Karnataka by expanding indoor coverage using 900 MHz spectrum across about 3,000 sites and increasing capacity on 1800 MHz and 2100 MHz bands, resulting in a 46% network capacity boost since March 2024. This network modernization includes deployment of high transmit power, multi-technology radios, and virtualization of network elements to improve efficiency and lower operational costs. Vi aims to complete 5G rollout across all 17 priority circles by August 2025, backed by a robust capital expenditure plan and ongoing site expansions to enhance connectivity nationwide.
