Sammy Hagar Releases New Song Co-Written with Eddie Van Halen
Sammy Hagar has released a new single, 'Encore, Thank You, Goodnight,' inspired by a vivid dream in which his late bandmate Eddie Van Halen appeared to him and helped write the song. Hagar describes the experience as a genuine 'communication from the beyond,' recalling that Eddie played a guitar riff in the dream that sparked the song's creation. After waking, Hagar quickly documented the idea and, two years later, completed the track with guitarist Joe Satriani, bassist Michael Anthony, and drummer Kenny Aronoff. Satriani contributed guitar work reminiscent of Van Halen's signature style, further enhancing the tribute. Hagar characterizes the song as a heartfelt thank you to both Eddie and their shared legacy, emphasizing respect, gratitude, and celebration rather than sorrow. The single is now available on major platforms, with an official music video debuting during Hagar’s Stagecoach festival performance.
