ROG Xbox Ally Pre-orders Begin Ahead of October Launch
Microsoft and ASUS launched two ROG Xbox Ally handhelds — the entry-level ROG Xbox Ally and the higher‑end ROG Xbox Ally X — delivering an Xbox‑tailored Windows 11 handheld experience. Pre-orders began Sept. 25, 2025 in select regions with a global launch set for Oct. 16, 2025, and availability through retailers including Amazon, Best Buy, Walmart, the ASUS Store and the Microsoft Store (the Ally X will be sold only through select retailers). U.S. pricing is $599.99 for the Ally and $999.99 for the Ally X, with regional ERPs such as C$799 and C$1,299 published. Both devices use AMD processors (Ryzen Z2 A in the Ally and AMD Ryzen AI Z2 Extreme in the Ally X), and the Ally X offers upgraded specs up to 1TB storage, 24GB RAM and an 80Wh battery. The handhelds run a modified Windows 11 with an Xbox‑like full‑screen interface, support Game Pass, cloud play and other PC storefronts (Steam, Epic, Battle.net), and include console‑style controls like impulse triggers. Microsoft and ASUS also highlight AI‑assisted features such as Gaming Copilot and OS adjustments to prioritize gaming performance; earlier leaks and briefly pulled listings caused some market confusion ahead of launch.
