The Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) has blacklisted 11 contractors for one year due to substandard work on 14 road projects, which included issues like sinking paving blocks and potholes. This decision follows an investigation prompted by the contractors' tenders being 40-45% below market rates, raising concerns about quality. PCMC Commissioner Shekhar Singh confirmed that the contractors failed to satisfactorily respond to show-cause notices regarding the poor workmanship. The civic body plans to recover double the costs associated with the defective work from these contractors.
