Truro City 914‑mile trip ends 2–2 draw
Truro City set a new English football record with a 914-mile round-trip coach journey to Gateshead for their National League fixture. The trip took around 10–12 hours and included a training stop at Derby County. Truro led 2–0 but the match finished 2–2 after a late Gateshead comeback. Reports vary on traveling support — from about 90 early arrivals who used a Sky Bet‑funded bar tab to roughly 185 fans who made the full trip — and at least one supporter estimated the cost at about £400. Manager John Askey said repeated long coach journeys are harder than opponents who fly and overnight, while chairman Eric Perez welcomed the exposure and ambitious plans; their promotion and Cornwall location mean even their nearest away games remain many hours away, and a recent 878-mile trip to Carlisle had been the prior record.
