President Murmu Embarks on African Tour

President Droupadi Murmu has embarked on a historic week-long visit to three African nations: Algeria, Mauritania, and Malawi, marking the first time an Indian Head of State has visited these countries. Her visit, which runs from October 13-19, aims to strengthen India-Africa relations, particularly following the African Union's recent inclusion in the G20. In Algeria, President Murmu will meet with President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, address the India-Algeria Economic Forum, and inaugurate several initiatives, including an India Corner at Hamma Garden. She will then travel to Mauritania on October 16, where she will hold bilateral talks and engage with the Indian diaspora, coinciding with Mauritania's African Union Presidency. The final leg of her trip will be in Malawi from October 17-19, focusing on trade discussions and furthering bilateral cooperation. This visit underscores India's commitment to enhancing its ties with African nations.
