The theft occurred on June 23 when he reportedly took 63,000 $1 coins from a warehouse in Wetherill Park, intending to sell them online shortly thereafter. Authorities launched an investigation, leading to the recovery of 189 coins during a search in Sefton on July 31. The stolen coins, produced by the Royal Australian Mint, were scheduled for public release in September but are already surfacing online at inflated prices.
