NYPD Officers Save Choking Infant in Queens in Life-Saving Response
In Queens, New York City, two NYPD officers saved the life of 10-month-old Makai Laboy, who was choking and had stopped breathing while napping. Makai's mother, Azia Rodriguez, noticed him choking and vomiting via a baby monitor and immediately called 911. Upon arrival, the officers quickly performed back blows on the unresponsive baby, successfully dislodging the obstruction, as captured on body-cam footage released by the NYPD. The baby was then taken to a local hospital in stable condition. The parents expressed profound gratitude toward the officers, highlighting the importance of their training in first aid and CPR. This incident underscores the critical role of rapid emergency response and police training in saving lives.
