The Delhi High Court has granted interim bail to four co-owners of a coaching centre basement where three IAS aspirants drowned due to flooding on July 27, 2024. The bail will be in effect until January 30, 2025, contingent on the deposit of ₹5 crore to the Red Cross. Justice Dinesh Kumar Sharma condemned the co-owners' actions as motivated by greed, criticizing them for leasing out the unsafe basement. The court also ordered the formation of a committee, led by a retired high court judge, to ensure that coaching centres operate only with proper approvals and in designated areas. The CBI opposed the bail, citing the early stage of the investigation and the need to examine independent witnesses. The victims were Shreya Yadav, Tanya Soni, and Nevin Delvin.
