Shop Worker Stabbed in Charity Box Theft

A shop worker in his 20s was stabbed while attempting to stop a thief who stole a charity box at a store in the Firth Park area of Sheffield. Another employee was bitten on the hand during the incident, which occurred on Wednesday morning. South Yorkshire Police arrested a 40-year-old woman on suspicion of assault and robbery, and she remains in custody. The injured worker was taken to the hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries. Inspector Alec Gibbons emphasized that retail workers should not face violence in the workplace and that retail crime is not victimless, reiterating the police's commitment to tackling such offenses. The police have also advised retail workers to prioritize their safety and back off if they feel threatened during attempts to confront shoplifters.
