Canada-India Tensions Rise Over Nijjar Assassination Allegations

Canadian Foreign Minister Mélanie Joly has issued a stern warning to the remaining Indian diplomats in Canada amid escalating diplomatic tensions, following the expulsion of India's high commissioner and five other diplomats. Allegations have surfaced linking them to the assassination of Sikh activist Hardeep Singh Nijjar, with accusations of engaging in criminal activities, including murder and intimidation on Canadian soil. Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has admitted the evidence is primarily intelligence-based rather than hard proof. India has rejected these accusations as baseless and reciprocated by expelling Canadian diplomats. The RCMP has alleged that information shared by Indian diplomats with organized crime groups led to threats against Sikh separatists in Canada. Joly emphasized that Canada will not tolerate foreign interference or threats to its citizens.
