Woodstock and Hawthorn Woods Fires Leave Casualties

A significant fire erupted in a Woodstock apartment complex on Tuesday night, resulting in one fatality, five injuries, and the displacement of over 30 residents. Responding swiftly, the Woodstock Fire/Rescue District contained the blaze with the assistance of over 20 fire departments. Despite aggressive firefighting efforts, 12 of the 24 apartment units were heavily damaged, and the American Red Cross has been providing aid to affected residents. Separately, over the weekend, a multi-alarm fire in Hawthorn Woods resulted in one death and the complete destruction of a home. The fire's intensity was exacerbated by limited water resources and an electric vehicle catching fire in the garage. Investigations into both incidents are ongoing to determine their causes.
