Dalton High and Ohio University Name New Coaches

Chris Prewett has been appointed as the head football coach at Dalton High School after a successful tenure at Roswell High School, where his teams achieved a 50-13 record and reached the 2022 Class AAAAAA championship game. He replaces Kit Carpenter, whose four-season run ended with a 16-28 record and the school's first winless season in 2024. Meanwhile, Brian Smith has been promoted to head coach of Ohio University's football team after serving as interim head coach and offensive coordinator. Smith, who joined Ohio in 2022, succeeded Tim Albin, who left for a head coach role at Charlotte. Under Smith's guidance, Ohio led the MAC in scoring and total offense, securing their first MAC title since 1968 and achieving three consecutive 10-win seasons. Both Prewett and Smith aim to sustain and build upon the strong traditions of their respective programs.
