Multiple Regions Report Progress in Affordable Housing Delivery

Significant progress is being made across various regions to address the housing crisis through increased investment, construction milestones, and policy initiatives. Dudley Council has improved its social housing, with only 4.2% of homes now falling below the government Decent Homes Standard, down from over 8% last year, reflecting substantial investment and effective management. In Scotland, the government announced a £4.9 billion housing emergency action plan aimed at delivering 36,000 affordable homes by 2030, along with new laws to tackle housing hazards and support for vulnerable groups. In Croydon, a topping out ceremony marked the advancement of 44 new affordable homes, which are expected to benefit the community through local employment and apprenticeships. New Mexico’s Housing Authority has utilized over one-third of $166 million allocated for affordable housing initiatives, focusing heavily on down-payment assistance amid a severe shortage of affordable rental units. Meanwhile, Ireland's Minister for Housing emphasized speeding up housing delivery through policy reforms and infrastructure planning to meet growing demand, highlighting major funding commitments in the National Development Plan.
