Man Arrested After High-Speed Police Cruiser Theft
Jared Remson, a 27-year-old man from Pawtucket, Rhode Island, was arrested after stealing a Providence police cruiser and leading Connecticut State Police on a high-speed chase. The incident began when the cruiser was stolen outside Rhode Island Hospital around 1:46 a.m., and state police were notified as the vehicle crossed into Connecticut. Remson was spotted on I-95 and pursued by police as he drove over 100 mph along Route 117. Ledyard police successfully deployed stop sticks to deflate the cruiser's tires, bringing the chase to an end near Route 2A. Remson faces charges including reckless driving, engaging police in pursuit, larceny, and resisting arrest, and is held on a $50,000 bond pending a court appearance. He will also face additional charges in Rhode Island.
