Hackney, a 23-year-old England Under-21 international, has impressed during pre-season and recently helped England win the under-21 European Championships, which delayed his return to Middlesbrough's preparations. Edwards praised Hackney's performance in a 3-3 pre-season draw against Mansfield Town and emphasized the player's dedication and importance to the club. Although Middlesbrough reportedly set a £20 million price tag for Hackney, no official offers have been received yet, and Edwards is focused on maintaining the squad's stability.
