Crown Princess Mette-Marit Takes Sick Leave

Crown Princess Mette-Marit of Norway has been placed on sick leave for at least a week due to side effects from medication for her chronic lung condition, pulmonary fibrosis. The royal, diagnosed with the incurable disease in 2018, has previously stated that her working capacity will vary based on her health challenges. The Royal Court confirmed that all her official engagements during this period have been canceled or postponed. Her husband, Crown Prince Haakon, noted that while the illness is not rapidly deteriorating, uncertainty remains regarding her ability to participate in royal duties. Mette-Marit has also recently been in the news due to her son facing serious allegations, which she has chosen not to comment on out of respect for all parties involved.
