Bobi Wine Injured in Police Altercation

Ugandan opposition leader Bobi Wine has been seriously injured in the leg during an altercation with police in Bulindo, a suburb of Kampala. His party, the National Unity Platform (NUP), claims he was shot by security operatives in an attempt on his life, while police assert that Wine stumbled and injured himself while getting into a vehicle. The incident occurred as Wine was on his way to meet a lawyer, and video footage shows him being assisted by supporters and receiving medical treatment for a bleeding wound. Wine has a history of confrontations with the police and has been a prominent critic of President Yoweri Museveni. An investigation into the incident has been promised by the police.
