Stuntwoman Submits New Evidence in Kevin Costner Unscripted Scene Lawsuit

Stuntwoman Devyn LaBella has amended her lawsuit against actor Kevin Costner and Territory Pictures, producers of the film "Horizon: An American Saga," to include alleged text messages exchanged with the movie's intimacy coordinator following an unscheduled and allegedly unscripted rape scene filmed in May 2023. LaBella, who was doubling for actress Ella Hunt, raised numerous questions in her texts about the absence of an intimacy coordinator during the scene, the involvement of a stunt double in sensitive non-stunt work, the lack of preparation and closed set protocols, and the role of a male camera department member directing the non-scripted action. The intimacy coordinator reportedly filed an incident report summarizing LaBella's complaints and noted that apologies were made to both LaBella and Hunt by various parties, with Hunt requesting the coordinator's return for support. LaBella alleges Costner was either involved or aware of the scene's filming, which included actor Roger Ivens forcibly handling her in a way she describes as violent and non-consensual. Costner's legal team denies the allegations, calling the lawsuit meritless and labeling LaBella a serial accuser in the entertainment industry. The case highlights serious concerns about on-set safety protocols and accountability in film productions.
