Mbappe Acquires 80% Stake in SM Caen

Kylian Mbappe, the French football star who recently transferred to Real Madrid, has acquired an 80% majority stake in Ligue 2 club SM Caen through his company, Interconnected Ventures, via its investment arm, Coalition Capital. The deal, which replaces the previous majority shareholder Oaktree Capital Management, is estimated to be valued between €15-20 million ($16-21.6 million). Mbappe's close friend Ziad Hammoud will become the club's new chairman, focusing on fostering young talent and modernizing the club's infrastructure. This acquisition marks a significant step in Caen's strategic development and aims to reinforce its sporting ambitions. The remaining 20% of the club is retained by media businessman Pierre-Antoine Capton.
