Father Arrested After Alleged Murder of Hanford Mother, Children Found Safe

A man, Jonathan Alexis Maldonado-Cruz, has been arrested after the murder of his ex-girlfriend, 22-year-old Madeline Rose Cuevas, and the abduction of their two daughters, ages 2 and 3. Cuevas was found dead from a gunshot wound in Hanford, California, prompting an Amber Alert for the missing children. Detectives believe Maldonado-Cruz shot Cuevas early Tuesday morning before fleeing with the children, possibly heading to Mexico in a gray Hyundai Elantra. Authorities considered him armed and dangerous, leading to collaboration with Mexican law enforcement. Fortunately, the children were located safe and the Amber Alert was subsequently canceled.
