Eddie Howe Not Contacted for England Manager Role

Eddie Howe, the Newcastle United manager, confirmed on October 18 that he was not contacted by the Football Association (FA) during their search for a new England manager, which concluded with the appointment of Thomas Tuchel. Despite being considered a leading candidate as one of the few English managers in the Premier League, Howe expressed no disappointment over the FA's decision, stating it was important for him to remain focused on Newcastle. He praised Tuchel as a great coach and hoped he would lead England to success, while also noting that his preference would have been for an English manager. The FA's Chief Executive, Mark Bullingham, revealed that around ten candidates were interviewed, including some English coaches, before settling on Tuchel. Howe emphasized that his primary concern is Newcastle, and he is not interested in discussions about leaving the club. He acknowledged that the speculation surrounding the England job was a distraction but expressed relief that it has now concluded.
