High Point University Opens $100M Dental School Facility in North Carolina

High Point University in North Carolina has officially opened a new three-story, 77,500-square-foot building as the permanent home for the Workman School of Dental Medicine, the state's only private dental school. The facility, situated on the Innovation Corridor of the campus, features advanced simulation labs, innovative learning spaces, and a fully functional dental office, supporting both education and community dental care through pro-bono services. The $32 million donation from the Rick and Angie Workman Foundation helped establish the school, which welcomed its inaugural class of 60 students in 2024 and has since started its second cohort. The dental program is noted for its unique C.A.R.E. curriculum—Clinician Advocate Research Entrepreneur—and a holistic admissions approach considering critical thinking and life experiences. The new building anchors the southern end of the Innovation Corridor alongside the Kenneth F. Kahn School of Law, with a combined cost of $100 million for both facilities. High Point University President Nido Qubein emphasized the inspirational role of Dr. Rick Workman for students, highlighting the significance of innovation and aspiration in dental education.
