Steve McQueen Reveals Prostate Cancer Diagnosis

Acclaimed filmmaker Steve McQueen has disclosed that he was diagnosed with prostate cancer two years ago and underwent surgery to remove a tumor, which he kept secret from the cast and crew of his film 'Blitz' to avoid distracting them. McQueen, who is now fully recovered, emphasized the importance of early detection, especially for Black men who are disproportionately affected by the disease. Following his father's death from prostate cancer in 2006, McQueen had been proactive in getting regular screenings, which allowed for the early identification of his cancer. He has since launched a campaign for Prostate Cancer Research to raise awareness about the disease and the critical need for early screening. McQueen's experience aims to encourage others to take action regarding their health, highlighting that early detection leads to high survival rates. He shared his story during a speech at the UK House of Commons, coinciding with the anniversary of his surgery.
