Kirit Somaiya, a BJP leader and former MP, has declined the role of communication chief for the Maharashtra assembly elections, citing a lack of prior consultation from party officials. In a letter to Raosaheb Danve, he described the appointment as 'insulting' and recalled past humiliations, including being sidelined in 2019 due to conflicts with the Shiv Sena. Despite his disapproval of the decision, Somaiya expressed his commitment to continue working for the party in other capacities. He emphasized his efforts in exposing corruption within the Uddhav Thackeray government, despite facing personal threats. Somaiya also communicated his gratitude for the affection shown to him by party leaders over the past five years. He remains an active member of the BJP but will not join the election committee.
