The messages, which have been characterized by authorities as 'robotexts', instruct recipients in a threatening manner, often mentioning a 'plantation' and suggesting they report to a specific location. The FBI and other law enforcement agencies are investigating the origin of these texts, which have been documented in states such as Indiana, North Carolina, Alabama, and Ohio. Indiana University officials confirmed the receipt of similar messages by several students, heightening fears and prompting local and federal inquiries. The North Carolina Attorney General's office is also involved in the investigation, condemning the messages as unacceptable. Community leaders and university officials emphasize the need for security and support for affected individuals amidst rising racial tensions.
