Man Arrested for Attempted Murder After Four Pedestrians Struck in Rochdale
A 49-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder and attempted murder after two separate collisions involving a car and pedestrians in Rochdale on Saturday. One woman, who was airlifted to the hospital after being struck on Whitworth Road, has died from her injuries, while three others, including a child, suffered minor injuries on Woodgate Avenue. Police confirmed that the incidents are not being treated as terrorism-related and believe it to be an isolated case involving a lone offender. The suspect is currently detained in hospital, and officers are not seeking anyone else in connection with the case. Greater Manchester Police have deployed additional resources to the area and are supporting the victims and their families while urging anyone with information to come forward. Emergency services responded promptly, closing affected roads to conduct investigations.
