Texas A&M Athletes Receive Over $51M NIL Compensation 2024-25
Texas A&M athletes earned a combined $51.4 million in name, image, and likeness (NIL) compensation from July 1, 2024, to June 30, 2025, marking a more than 250% increase from the previous year and nearly tripling the university's NIL earnings since 2023-24. Despite this growth, there remains a significant disparity between men's and women's sports, with male athletes receiving $49.2 million and female athletes $2.2 million, although the latter has more than doubled from the prior year and surpassed $1 million collectively for the first time. This NIL compensation exceeds the revenues of many NCAA athletic programs, highlighting Texas A&M's prominence in the NIL space, particularly driven by football and men's basketball. Legislative changes in Texas, including House Bill 126, now allow universities to make direct payments to student-athletes and align state law with the recent House v. NCAA settlement, which establishes a revenue-sharing model beginning in the 2025-26 season. Over four years, Texas A&M’s athletes have earned approximately $79.2 million in NIL deals, reflecting the rapid evolution and financial impact of NIL in college sports. The university also plans to fund scholarships for all sports and has opted into the revenue-sharing settlement, which could influence future NIL compensation dynamics.
