Biogen plans to consolidate headquarters in MIT Kendall Common by 2028

Biogen has announced plans to consolidate its operations by moving its headquarters to a new 580,000-square-foot facility at Kendall Common in Cambridge, Massachusetts, set to open in 2028. This strategic move aims to integrate research and development teams with commercial operations, emphasizing Biogen's commitment to the local innovation ecosystem as it celebrates its 50th anniversary. The new site, developed in partnership with MIT and BioMed Realty, will be the first private building at the former Volpe transportation complex. Biogen's decision comes amid a broader slowdown in the biotechnology sector, but state officials view it as a reaffirmation of the company's dedication to Massachusetts. The relocation will reduce Biogen's local real estate footprint by approximately 412,000 square feet, allowing for a more modern and collaborative workspace.
