Guthrie Launches Mobile Maternity Services Across Southern Tier

The Guthrie Clinic has launched the Maternity Oasis Mobile (MOM) Unit, a mobile facility aimed at providing essential maternity services to underserved rural communities in Central New York and the Southern Tier. Staffed by midwives, nurses, and other healthcare professionals, the unit will offer prenatal and postpartum care, ultrasounds, mental health counseling, and more. This initiative aims to address significant maternal health disparities and reduce premature birth rates in the region. Funded by a $3 million grant from the Mother Cabrini Health Foundation, the 39-foot mobile unit will travel to various locations, including the United Way of Broome County. Officials emphasize the importance of making healthcare accessible, particularly for those who may struggle to reach traditional clinics due to transportation barriers. The MOM Unit is set to officially begin operations and will keep the community updated on its daily locations.
