Minnesota Wild Sign Forward Brett Leason to PTO Ahead of Training Camp

The Minnesota Wild have signed forward Brett Leason to a professional tryout (PTO) ahead of their training camp to add depth and competition to their bottom-six forward group. Leason, a 26-year-old right-shot winger known for his penalty-killing ability, spent last season with the Anaheim Ducks, recording five goals and 17 points in 62 games. Drafted 56th overall by the Washington Capitals in 2019, he has played 220 NHL games between Washington and Anaheim, tallying 25 goals and 54 points in total. Standing 6-foot-5 and weighing 218 pounds, Leason offers physicality and versatility, with significant penalty kill experience, having logged over 30% penalty kill deployment in recent seasons. The Wild may sign him to a two-way contract if he earns a spot, potentially starting him with their AHL affiliate, Iowa, coached by his former Ducks coach. Leason’s junior career was marked by strong offensive production and leadership, highlighted by a WHL championship and representing Canada at the 2019 World Juniors.
