Small Plane Crash Kills Two, Dog in Simi Valley Homes
A small, home-built Vans RV-10 airplane crashed into two homes in the Wood Ranch area of Simi Valley, California, killing two people and a dog onboard. The crash, which occurred Saturday afternoon, ignited fires that damaged the homes, but residents inside managed to evacuate safely without injury. About 40 firefighters responded quickly to extinguish the flames. The plane had departed from William J. Fox Airfield and was headed to Camarillo Airport when it went down. Both the Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board are investigating the cause, with preliminary findings expected to take weeks. The incident has raised concerns about the risks small aircraft pose to residential communities and the need for enhanced safety measures.
