Weekend Road Closures in California, Michigan, Arizona
Caltrans will fully close all northbound lanes of I‑5 between I‑8 and the Mission Bay Drive on‑ramp from 9 p.m. Friday, Oct. 24 to 5 a.m. Monday, Oct. 27 for concrete slab replacement and roadwork as part of the I‑5 Asset Management Project; multiple on‑ramps will be closed and MTS bus routes and the Blue Line trolley will remain available with minor detours, while nearby businesses and residents should expect nighttime noise and lighting. In the Sacramento area, westbound US‑50 will have nightly closures Oct. 26–31 (9 p.m.–4 a.m.) and a 55‑hour full closure Oct. 31–Nov. 4 for demolition and pavement work as part of the I‑80/US‑50 rehabilitation project, with detours using I‑80 connectors. In Kern County, multiple Highway 58 ramps at Highway 99 will be closed overnight for bridge deck concrete pours and pavement work with signed local detours. Separately, Michigan DOT will implement single‑lane closures on westbound US‑10 in Bay County for concrete patching Oct. 26–29, and pavement‑sealing closures are scheduled on I‑17 and I‑10 around Phoenix this weekend. Motorists in all affected regions should allow extra travel time, follow posted detours and alerts, and expect some transit detours and local disruptions.
