UK confirmed sole bidder for 2035 Women's World Cup

FIFA president Gianni Infantino confirmed that the United Kingdom is the only 'valid bid' for the 2035 Women's World Cup, following the deadline for initial expressions of interest. The joint bid, submitted by the football associations of England, Wales, Scotland, and Northern Ireland, aims to host the tournament a decade from now. Although Spain had expressed interest in bidding alongside Portugal and Morocco, Infantino emphasized that the UK bid stands alone in consideration. The USA is also set to host the 2031 Women's World Cup as the sole bidder. This announcement marks a significant moment for women's football, as it would be the first World Cup hosted in the UK since 1966. Scottish FA chief executive Ian Maxwell noted the potential positive impact on the growth of women's football in Scotland and beyond.
