A state-mandated tampon dispenser was installed inside a boys' bathroom at a Connecticut high school and was ripped down within 20 minutes. The school's principal, Marc Balanda, described the act as an "egregious instance of vandalism" and expressed his feeling of disgust. The incident took place at Brookfield High School on 23 January. The dispenser was installed in compliance with a new state law that mandates the provision of free menstrual products in women's restrooms, all-gender restrooms and at least one men's bathroom. Balanda criticised the act, stating that it was carried out by "immature boys, not men". The school's superintendent, John Barile, reportedly addressed the incident with the student involved without disclosing any further details.
