Five Teens Arrested in San Jose Stabbing

Five teenagers, including a 13-year-old, have been arrested in connection with the Valentine's Day fatal stabbing of 15-year-old David Gutierrez at Santana Row in San Jose. The incident occurred during a date between Gutierrez and his girlfriend when they were approached by the suspects, believed to be local gang members, who allegedly sought confrontation. Despite having no gang affiliations, Gutierrez was asked about his involvement in gangs, and after attempting to flee, he was chased down and fatally stabbed by the 13-year-old suspect. The San Jose Police Department identified the suspects using surveillance footage and arrested them shortly after the incident. The 13-year-old was charged with homicide and felony assault, while the other suspects, three 16-year-olds and an 18-year-old, were charged with felony assault. Authorities have framed this tragic event as a random act of violence, highlighting challenges within the juvenile justice system in addressing severe crimes by minors.
