Somersville Fire Expands to 209 Acres in Contra Costa County, 0% Contained
A rapidly spreading vegetation fire known as the Somersville Fire broke out on Somersville Road in Antioch, Contra Costa County, on the evening of June 18, 2025, burning between 150 and 209 acres within an hour of being reported. Fire crews from the Contra Costa County Fire Protection District and CAL FIRE are actively responding, with no containment achieved yet and the cause still under investigation. Authorities have initiated evacuations and warned residents near Finch Drive, Markley Creek, Osprey, Cambridge Avenue, and Cambridge Drive to prepare for potential evacuations. Structure protection efforts are underway, including along Mallard Way, and air resources have been deployed to assist in fighting the fire. The Antioch Police Department is assisting with evacuations and advising commuters to avoid the area around Black Diamond Mines and James Donlon Boulevard.
