Andhra Pradesh Court Dismisses Bail for Vijay Paul

The Andhra Pradesh High Court has dismissed the anticipatory bail petition of retired ASP Vijay Paul, in a case of alleged custodial torture against former MP K Raghu Rama Krishna Raju. The court emphasized the importance of protecting individual rights in custody and noted the serious nature of the allegations, which include a murder attempt and torture at the behest of political figures. In related judicial proceedings, the court has also directed the police to respond to other anticipatory bail petitions involving additional police officials and political implications. Meanwhile, the Kerala High Court is set to hear anticipatory bail petitions from filmmakers Omar Lulu and Akhil Marar regarding separate sexual assault and public statements cases respectively, with hearings scheduled for October.
