Egypt Delivers Military Equipment to Somalia

Egypt has delivered a substantial shipment of military equipment to Somalia, marking the second such delivery within a month amid escalating tensions with Ethiopia. This military aid, which includes anti-aircraft guns and artillery, aims to bolster Somalia's defense capabilities. The strengthening of Cairo-Mogadishu ties is rooted in their mutual distrust of Ethiopia, particularly after Ethiopia's agreement with Somaliland to lease part of its coastline, which has angered Somalia. Additionally, Ethiopia's actions have led to accusations of violating Somali sovereignty, contributing to the regional discord. Relations between Egypt and Ethiopia have also been strained over the construction of a hydroelectric dam on the Nile River, which Egypt perceives as a threat to its water supply.
