Calder Gardens Set to Open in 2025

Calder Gardens, a new cultural institution dedicated to the work of renowned sculptor Alexander Calder, is set to open in September 2025 in Philadelphia. The 18,000-square-foot exhibition space, designed by Herzog & de Meuron with landscaping by Piet Oudolf, aims to merge art with nature, fostering introspection and community engagement. Juana Berrío has been appointed as the Marsha Perelman Senior Director of Programs, bringing extensive experience from prestigious institutions including the Whitney Museum of American Art. Berrío envisions a diverse range of programs that transcend traditional art experiences, incorporating elements of wellness and environmental awareness. The Calder Foundation, which oversees the Gardens, emphasizes that this space is not merely a museum but an oasis for personal growth and connection. The project, with a $58 million budget, reflects a bold vision for Philadelphia's cultural landscape.
