El Monte Police Fatally Shoot Disturbance Suspect
A man was shot and killed by El Monte police on December 16 after allegedly causing a disturbance and brandishing a firearm at a Target store. The incident began around 8:45 p.m. when officers responded to the report of a customer causing trouble, leading to a brief vehicle pursuit after the suspect fled the scene. The suspect abandoned his vehicle near a Chase bank and attempted to flee on foot, where police opened fire, resulting in multiple gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene, and a semi-automatic handgun was recovered. No officers were injured during the incident, and the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department is conducting an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the shooting. The identity of the suspect has not been released, and authorities are seeking witnesses for further information.
