Israeli Forces Target Palestinian Journalists in Jenin

Since the onset of the Israel-Hamas war on October 7, 2023, at least 98 Palestinian journalists have been detained by Israeli authorities, with 52 still in custody, according to the Palestinian Prisoners' Society. Among those detained are 15 journalists held under administrative detention, including six women, and reports indicate ongoing forced disappearances of journalists such as Nidal Al-Wahidi and Haitham Abdelwahid. In a separate incident, Israeli soldiers fired live rounds at journalists in Jenin, injuring at least two and attempting to run others over with military bulldozers. The Israeli military's aggressive tactics have raised concerns about the safety of journalists documenting the conflict, leading to calls for accountability from advocacy groups. The continuing violence has resulted in significant casualties, with nearly 40,800 Palestinians reported killed in Gaza and 682 in the West Bank since the war began. The international community is increasingly scrutinizing Israel's actions in light of these reports, with accusations of genocide being considered at the International Court of Justice.
