Cynthia Erivo to Receive GLAAD Media Award

This award honors LGBTQ media professionals who have made a significant impact, with past recipients including Laverne Cox and Wanda Sykes. Erivo, who publicly came out as queer in 2022, has been praised for her commitment to intersectionality and supporting marginalized communities. Her notable career includes roles in 'Wicked,' for which she received an Oscar nomination, and 'The Color Purple,' which earned her a Tony Award. GLAAD President Sarah Kate Ellis has highlighted Erivo’s consistent advocacy for Black and queer communities as a defining aspect of her legacy. The ceremony will also feature other prominent LGBTQ figures and awards.
