Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting Opens in Samoa

Samoa is hosting the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) from October 21 to 26, marking a historic first for a small Pacific nation. Over 4,000 delegates, including His Majesty King Charles III and Her Majesty Queen Camilla, are expected to attend, alongside numerous media representatives. The meeting will involve multiple Ministerial Meetings, 35 side events, and the election of a new Commonwealth Secretary-General. Local villages have welcomed delegates by adopting Commonwealth countries, showcasing their flags and decorations, and participating in beautification efforts. This significant gathering aims to assess progress since the last CHOGM in Rwanda and establish future directions for the Commonwealth.
