Multi-Vehicle Crash on I-95 Attleboro Leaves Driver Critically Injured

A serious two-vehicle crash on Interstate 95 in Attleboro early Sunday morning resulted in a male driver being critically injured and trapped in his vehicle, requiring firefighters to extricate him and transport him to Rhode Island Hospital. The second vehicle rolled over, struck a bridge support, and caught fire beneath an overpass; its female driver escaped on her own and suffered only minor injuries. The crash caused a debris field nearly a quarter-mile long and led to the highway being closed until around 5 a.m. while Massachusetts State Police investigated and the Department of Transportation inspected the overpass, which was later deemed safe. The large number of bystanders attempting to render aid before emergency responders arrived created challenges in quickly identifying those needing medical attention, requiring careful coordination from first responders.
