Legendary FSU Baseball Coach Mike Martin Dies at 79

Legendary Florida State University baseball coach Mike Martin Sr. passed away at 79. Martin, known as '11' for the number he wore as a player and coach, had been battling with Lewy body dementia. His impressive legacy spans 47 years at Florida State as a player, assistant, and head coach, holding the NCAA record for most wins over 2,000. His achievements include 19 conference titles, 40 NCAA Tournament appearances, and 17 trips to the College World Series, despite never winning a national championship. Martin's passing was mourned by the college sports community and commemorated by various individuals including FSU President Richard McCullough, Vice President and Directors of Athletics Michael Alford, and Head Football Coach Mike Norvell.
