Teen Arrested in Maine Paddleboarder Murder
A 17-year-old male was arrested for the murder of Sunshine 'Sunny' Stewart, a 48-year-old woman from Tenants Harbor, Maine, whose body was found in Crawford Pond on July 3 after she went missing while paddleboarding. The Maine State Medical Examiner determined Stewart died from strangulation and blunt force trauma, confirming her death as a homicide. The suspect, whose name has not been released, was apprehended in Union and transported to the Long Creek Youth Development Center in South Portland. Stewart had been staying at the nearby Mic Mac Family Campground and was known for her love of the outdoors and vibrant personality. The murder has unsettled the tight-knit Midcoast community, and the investigation is ongoing. Police have not disclosed a motive or any connection between Stewart and the suspect.
