This confusion arose after Atlanta teased a new Japanese signing, leading to speculation about Furuhashi's potential move, especially since a $12 million bid for him was reported last month. The erroneous article was quickly removed, and MLS clarified the situation in a statement, expressing regret for the mix-up. The swift retraction appeared to mitigate some fan frustration, although questions remain about how such a mistake could occur. The Atlanta United recently appointed Ronny Deila, a former manager of Furuhashi's club, which may have added to the confusion. Ultimately, Togashi's transfer was confirmed, while Furuhashi remains with Celtic.
