Clocks Fall Back Nov. 2, 2025 in US, UK
Daylight Saving Time ends across much of the United States on Sunday, November 2, 2025, at 2:00 a.m., when clocks “fall back” one hour, yielding an extra hour of sleep and earlier sunrises and sunsets. The timing affects local activities—most notably Halloween weekend in 2025—because some areas (for example parts of Florida) will have extra evening daylight on Oct. 31 before the change, which may extend trick‑or‑treating and complicate schedules across time‑zone lines. Several places (Hawaii, most of Arizona and some U.S. territories) do not observe DST, and state and federal efforts to make DST permanent or abolish the practice remain unresolved, with measures such as Washington state bills and the stalled Sunshine Protection Act still pending. A large UK survey found 57% oppose the twice‑yearly clock change, reflecting split public opinion on whether to keep biannual switches, adopt permanent summer time or move to permanent standard time. Officials advise using the time change to check smoke and carbon monoxide detectors and to ease circadian disruption by shifting sleep, meals and activities gradually; Daylight Saving Time will return in March 2026 when clocks “spring forward.”
